You are aware that Sandwell has been designated an area of national intervention due to the increasing rates of positive cases of Covid-19 in our community.
Schools remain open to all year groups, and we must all take the precautionary measure of wearing a face covering in communal areas of the school and outside if we can not maintain a social distance of 2 metres. This applies to all children, young adults and adults in the academy.
Your child will need to bring a face covering to school to wear entering the building, moving between lessons, in the corridor, at break and lunch and when leaving the school building. The Trust policy is for face coverings to be plain grey, black, white or pale blue fabric. School staff will also be wearing face coverings in communal areas, but not in the classroom.
Please do not send your child into school if they are displaying any symptoms of Covid-19. These are one or more of:
- A raised temperature
- A new, continuous cough
- A loss or change in sense of smell or taste
If your child has any of these symptoms you must arrange for a test. The whole household must self-isolate whilst waiting for the results of the test.
If your child reports symptoms of Covid-19 at school, they will be attended by a first aider in full PPE. You will be asked to collect your child immediately and reminded that your household must self-isolate for 14 days unless a negative test is received.
To make sure that we are able to reach you in event of emergency we are asking all parents and carers to check contact details. Please can you particularly check your mobile number and email. If we need to contact a whole year group, for speed, we will use email wherever possible.
In addition we are updating our records about access to ICT at home. We are asking if your child has individual access to a laptop and broadband. This is so that we can support your child’s education in case of any period of self-isolation of a year group bubble, or a lock down. Thank you for providing us with this information.
I know that this is a worrying time for parents. Please be assured that we are following all safety measures and will continue to put the safety of students and staff first in all that we do.
