Here’s a round up of activities and programmes available to young people during the summer.
Youth Services re-opened
Sandwell Youth Service will also be re-opening some of its youth clubs from this week at the following locations:
Tanhouse Youth Club (Re-opening 6th July)
Tanhouse Community Centre, Hamstead Road, Great Barr, B43 5EL
Tuesday 7pm – 9pm
Thursday 7pm – 9pm
Lodge Road Youth Club (Re-opening 8th July)
Lodge Road Community Centre, Lodge Road, West Bromwich, B70 8PJ
Tuesday 6pm – 8pm
Thursday 6pm – 8pm
Windmill Youth Club (Re-opening 13th July)
Windmill Community Centre, Messenger Road, Smethwick, B66 3DX
Tuesday 6:30pm – 8:30pm
Thursday 6:30pm – 8:30pm
Young people will need to pre-book their place, as we will only be able to accept limited numbers due to social distancing and capacity within the clubs. Please contact email@example.com to book your place and make sure you give your name and the club you wish to attend.
In addition, detached youth teams will continue to operate at key locations throughout the summer. Details of where and when the teams will be out each week can be found at https://www.justyouth.org.uk/events/
The Youth Service will also be delivering Holiday Activity & Food programmes in key parks across the 6 towns.
Join us for a boredom busting summer of fun!
Unplug your devices and get outdoors this summer to try a host of fun and exciting activities. From a skating competition (including learning new skills and tricks), music, magic and circus skills, graffiti art, film making to climbing and sports – we’ve got it all coming to a park near you! The following parks will be hosting this programme:
Dartmouth Park, West Bromwich – 26th– 29th July
Brunswick Park, Wednesbury – 2nd – 5th August
Lightswood Park, Smethwick – 9th-12th August
Britannia Park, Rowley Regis – 16th – 19th August
Victoria Park, Tipton – 23rd -26th August
Tividale Park, Oldbury – 23rd-26th August
These programmes have been made possible due to funding and support from the Holiday Activity & Food progamme and are supported by Ashley Richards – Community Engagement Manager – Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.
Adventurous Activity Days at Malthouse Stables
Malthouse Stables will be offering adventurous activity days which will include mountain biking and canoeing as part of the Holiday Activity & Food programme which have limited spaces available and will need to be pre-booked. Targeted Young Women’s Programme
We will also have targeted provision for young women available throughout the summer. Young women will need to be referred to this programme and will need to meet our Enhanced Youth Support provision criteria. Further information on referring a young person to this programme can be gained from Kelly Croft on 07973550789.
In addition, further activities and programmes are available through the Holiday activities and food programme.
The Department for Education’s Holiday Activities and Food Programme has provided funding for councils to deliver free fun activities linked to a food offer for children and young people who are eligible for free school meals during the summer holidays.
