10 Feb Kidszania Trip
As part of the Cool Career project, to assist year 8’s in making their option choices, they took a visit to Kidszania in London, these are Mia’s, Summer’s and Isabella’s notes:
We arrived in London, for our exciting trip – to have life experiences dealing with money, jobs, health and other concerns of adult life. During this experience, we have learned new skills and techniques which will support us in life and help us grow into mature and responsible adults. Once we arrived at Kidzania we were given a watch-like thing acting as if a personal tracker that was scanned before or after entering a building. To get started off with we were given 50 kidsodollars (fake money) to buy items and join activities.
To earn the money we would have to work in jobs such as: Doctor, Banker, Estate Agent, Animator, Beautician, Police Officer, Fire Fighter, Pizza Chef, Surgeon, Dentist, Sandwich Maker, Theatre work and Hairstylist etc. Money gain would vary due to the job and the minutes done working. We came to London for experience and that is what we came back with!
Moreover, we were treated like adults, which gave us the perspective of what life would be like when we grow up. It was fun and enjoyable especially when we went to work and earnt money so we could go to the disco with friends and enjoy life as young adults. I recommend this trip to other Primary and Secondary schools because it’s a fantastic and a wonderful journey to experience older life as well as learning life lessons on the way
Lastly, I would like to summarise my point of view which is that Kidzania is a mind-blowing experience and we are so grateful to the REAL Projects teachers for organising this amazing experience which will change our future in the long run. Also, a huge thank you to the Tipton Learning Hub and Quintessentially for subsidising the trip.
