Dear Parents and Carers,
End of Term Academy Update
This is a very strange end of term letter to write, as we have only been in contact with the vast majority of our students through remote working for the last 2 weeks. I have been so proud of the way that our students have risen to the challenges that they have been presented with. We are not providing work over the Easter holidays as we think it is important to maintain some family time. However, I am sending with this letter a list of online and freely available resources for students that you may find useful during the break.
I know for all families, this is a very uncertain time. Please can I remind you that if your circumstances change and you are now eligible for free school meals, you can apply via https://www.sandwell.gov.uk/forms/form/16/free_school_meals, this link is also on our website. The Local authority are currently processing claims quickly. Likewise, if you start work in a critical worker occupation and need to utilise our emergency provision for child care, please contact the school on email@example.com to discuss and arrange a placement. This provision resumes on 20th April 2020.
For families eligible for free school meals, we are accessing the government voucher scheme. Parents will receive a £15 Asda voucher for each week that the school is shut, starting the 20th April, excluding school holidays. This voucher can be exchanged for food only.
If you need help and support, or are in distress, the Council has developed a website for families, local residents and business detailing the latest support and advice they offer. This is found at http://www.sandwell.gov.uk/coronavirus
I have also included with this letter a document form the Chilren’s Commissioner for England to help manage children’s anxieties and worries about the coronavirus. There is also a short leaflet for helping children with ASD manage this time. It includes helpful advice for all children.
I will write to you again at the start of term, unless we have new information to share. In the meantime, keep safe, keep home as far as possible and keep well.
