14 Feb Year 8 ‘Cool careers’ Project
During the week of 13 February 2017, the final chapter of the Year 8 ‘Cool careers’ Project took place. This consisted of an interview with local business people. To ensure we were prepared for our interview, just like in adult life, we prepared a presentation, personal statement and in some cases even a CV.
For us to be fully prepared for our interviews we had thoroughly researched into our selected career paths, qualifications and routes; this meant we could talk confidently about our future. Although we were nervous, preparation and practice meant that we tried our best and, as a result, we received a range of positive feedback, but also ways in which we could improve.
This has meant we are well prepared to make aspirational choices for our options, which will be a great foundation for our GCSE’s.
Not only did this presentation act as evidence for our Pixl Edge Apprenticeship, but also gave us a clear knowledge of how to achieve our future goals.
Thank you to The Heart of England Community Foundation, who sponsored this project but also to the following organisations who helped us in this interview process: Mueller Europe, Sandwell College, Dudley Enterprise Partnership, Nova training, Connexions, Bangladeshi Women’s Association, Hays recruitment, Centro.
